THE CONSTANTLY GRUMBLING CHINESE

by Raja Petra Kamarudin
"...The Malays are split into four groups. There are the Malays who support Ketuanan Melayu and the New Economic Policy. These Malays will vote for Umno come hell or high water. And they will defend Ketuanan Melayu and the New Economic Policy with their six-inch keris to the death.
Then there are the Malays who support PAS, basically because they believe it is the Islamic thing to do.
Then there are Malays who want to see transparency, good governance, freedom of expression and assembly, independence of the judiciary, an end to abuse of power and corruption, an end to police brutality, and all those other ‘Western notions’. These Malays will vote for PKR.
Then there are those Malays who don’t care a damn and think that all politicians are hypocrites and politics is sheer bullshit. They don’t bother to come out to vote or even to register as voters.
The Malays are clear in their leanings. They don’t hide their feelings. They say it as they see it and you can go to hell if you don’t like what they say for all they care.
But you can’t say the same about the Chinese. They grumble and grumble till the cows come home. But they will do the exact opposite of how they feel. They equate Barisan Nasional as the reincarnation of the devil. But then they will vote for Barisan Nasional because it is the devil they know and the devil they know is better than an angel they don’t know..." Read more

UMNO PENGHALANG HUKUM HUDUD?

"....Paling minima yang Umno lakukan adalah jangan terus mengeluarkan kata-kata bodoh dalam isu hudud ini. Ini kerana kamu bercakap tentang hukum Islam. Dalam perkara yang bukan agama jika kamu salah bercakap, kamu hanya membuat kesilapan dan kesilapan tersebut tidak akan menjejaskan aqidah kamu.

Sebaliknya isu agama lain.

IS UMNO STILL AT STONE AGE?

KELANTAN UMNO BACKS HUDUD

by Leslie Lau, The Malaysian Insider

"...Kelantan Umno will lobby the federal government to allow the Islamist party Pas to introduce hudud law, which prescribes stoning, whipping and amputation as punishment for criminal offences, in what will certainly spark intense debate and rouse opposition from non-Muslims.
The Malaysian Insider understands the Kelantan state Umno leadership is planning to declare their support, which comes on the heels of Pas vice president Datuk Husam Musa's (photo)admission on Saturday that his party would introduce hudud if it wins federal power.
The support appears designed to place pressure on Pas, which has successfully gained support among more moderate Malaysians by appearing to place its stated aim of forming a theocratic Islamic state on the back-burner.
Pas has tried to project a more moderate and progressive image in recent years, but this has resulted in some restlessness from among its more conservative members, and a clear split in the party..."

MAHATHIR ON IJN'S PRIVATISATION

by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, http://test.chedet.com
".....If it is going to give the same service to civil servants and pensioners the Government will have to pay out the same amount of money after privatisation. How does the Government gain? Besides if the poor are going to be charged the same low fees and charges how does Sime Darby make money?
Or will the Government continue to subsidise an ever growing bill for treatment of the poor? If so why is there a need to privatise? How does Sime Darby, a business entity make money when 80 per cent of the patients are poor?
Some of the major surgeries performed there are so costly that the IJN lost money on them. Will Sime Darby shoulder these losses?
There are far too many questions about this privatisation which need to be answered. Some I think cannot be answered.
I seldom oppose privatisation but this is one instant when I feel privatisation is the wrong thing to do. Leave this institution as it is. It is our pride and it is doing a good job as it is.
The Barisan Nasional Government is not too popular today. Why do something that may give the opposition another issue to belabour the Government...." Read more

ABDUL LATIF; GOVT WILL NOT PRIVATISE IJN

KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 20 — The government today assured the people that it will not sell nor privatise the National Heart Institute (IJN) so long as there is no alternative which provide similar service to the people, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad said.
He said that while the idea to privatise the IJN was good because the government would no longer be burdened by the high costs of subsidising treatments at the institute, now was not the best time to do so.
“It is a good idea but what about those in the low-income group? Can they be assured of obtaining similar service?
“These are the things that the government needs to consider,” he told reporters after a dialogue with Terengganu Health Department staff here.
He also said that the people should not be worried as until an alternative service was available, the government would not entertain any proposal to privatise or sell IJN. — Bernama

MORE EVIDENCE INDIA, ISRAEL AND U.S. BEHIND MUMBAI ATTACKS

by Kurt Nimmo, Prison Planet.com

It is becoming increasingly a hard sell to pin the blame for the Mumbai attacks on Pakistan and thus set the stage for an attack on Pakistan after Barack Obama enters the White House in a few weeks. It now appears Indian intelligence played a large part in the terrorist attacks. On Saturday, the Associated Press reported that a “counterinsurgency police officer (photo) who may have been on an undercover mission” was arrested for illegally buying mobile phone cards used by the gunmen. Mukhtar Ahmed is an Indian police operative who provided cell phone SIM cards to Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Pakistan terrorist group blamed for the Mumbai attacks....." Read more

WALKING ON THIN ICE

by Raja Petra Kamarudin, MalaysiaToday

".....Barisan Nasional has 140 Members of Parliament, 79 of them Malays and 61 non-Malays. Pakatan Rakyat, in turn, has 43 Malay Members of Parliament against 39 non-Malays. This means both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat are ‘Malay-majority’ coalitions.

But what happens when 30 non-Malay Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament cross over to Pakatan Rakyat? This would still give Barisan Nasional 79 Malays but it will be reduced to 31 non-Malays. This would make Barisan Nasional even more Malay than it is now. But Pakatan Rakyat would now have only 43 Malays against 69 non-Malays. So, while Barisan Nasional has become even more ‘Malay’, Pakatan Rakyat would become a ‘non-Malay’ coalition. And this would also mean that a ‘non-Malay’ government now runs this country once Pakatan Rakyat, with its 112 Members of Parliament, forms the federal government.

This is what concerns the Malays, the Rulers included. And their concern is not that the Malays have ‘lost political power’ and that the non-Malays have now ‘taken over’ this country. Their concern is that Umno will use this issue to ‘prove’ to the nationalist Malays that, finally, the Malays have lost political power, as they had been saying all along since the 8 March 2008 general election in their many road-shows the length and breadth of this country....." Despite what the mainstream media is saying, there are more indications that those behind the Mumbai massacres were NOT Muslim.

"....One police officer who encountered the gunmen as they entered the Jewish centre told the Guardian the attackers were "white", although this could mean they were paler-skinned Indians from the country's north. (Or it could mean they were actually white, as the police officer himself said. - IL). "I went into the building late last night," he said. "I got a shock because they were white. I was expecting them to look like us. They fired three shots. I fired 10 back."
".....Note the BBC report quotes locals as saying that before the attackers pulled out their guns and began firing they walked into the café and drank beer. This is not the behaviour of “Muslim extremists”, devout or otherwise, as Islam strictly prohibits the consumption of alcohol. Although, unsurprisingly perhaps given its reputation for glossing over the truth, the BBC omits to highlight this fact. Likewise, the mainstream media continues to parrot accusations that "Islamic fanatics" were behind the attacks while evidence pointing to the involvement of Hindu extremists and/or white/Mossad operatives is largely ignored...." "Bagaikan Anjing Menyalak Bukit"
by Mohd Rashidi Hassan

Read more

ABDULLAH'S MARCH

by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad

".....On the political front Abdullah has been busy campaigning for his chosen candidates for the posts of Deputy President, Wanita chief and Pemuda chief and other posts which will lead to appointments as Ministers. Najib is going to be surrounded by Abdullah's people and through these people Abdullah will control the Government of Najib. Najib has already abandoned Muhyiddin, the fierce critic of Abdullah. He does not want to incur the displeasure of his boss. Would he refuse to appoint Abdullah's nominees? Would he dare go against them?......" Read more
And here's Malaysian Insider commentary;
"...........In an interview with Riz Khan on Al Jazeera, Dr. Mahathir followed up with another observation, noting that Najib is “more a follower than a leader and must change that.” These statements are designed to spook Najib and his supporters and provoke them into action, namely showing clear support for candidates with antipathy towards Abdullah. These statements must also be read together with the warning by Dr Mahathir to expose election candidates who he believes are guilty of buying support...."

"......In his opinion, Muhyiddin should be a shoo-in for the number two job. Instead, he appears to be in a dog fight with Ali and Muhammad Taib, two candidates said to be close to Abdullah. Sources told The Malaysian Insider that Najib may prefer Muhyiddin over the other two candidates but will not publicly endorse anyone contesting the party elections...." Read more

MALAYSIA VOTE; KEY TEST FOR GOVT AND OPPOSITION

From The Reuters By Julie Goh
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A January by-election will provide a key test for Malaysia’s incoming prime minister as he seeks to avert a sharp economic slowdown, while a win for the opposition could reignite Anwar Ibrahim’s stuttering campaign. The election commission on Friday set the date of the vote, caused by the death of a government MP, for Jan. 17.
.....“If UMNO wins, it will be seen as a victory for Najib personally, but if the opposition wins, it can only be seen as PAS getting stronger since the March general election,” said James Chin, professor of political science at Monash University.
.....“The poll will be seen as a bellwether of the Malay heartland vote,” the Singapore-based Straits Times said on Friday...." Read more

ACCEPTING REALITY IS NOT PESSIMISM, GIVING FALSE HOPE IS NOT OPTIMISM

RESISTING THE UMNO DINOSAURS

by kulitpisang.com
".....These leaders consider it their birthright that they are god-given the position they are in and it is in their faith that the position shall not be given to young and able leader. They are the causes of UMNO’s and BN’s losses in the March 8 general election. The ‘youthfulness’ of the party has been robbed by these leaders hence distancing the party from the youths.
In the election results, it can be seen that 70 – 80% of the voters in Streams 3, 4, 5 and above casted their votes for the opposition. True enough that those in the age brackets of 50 years and above kept BN in power.

However, the fact of the matter is that the young will take over and as they aged, they will occupy the older generation’s age bracket. Once the pyramid chain of these group moves up and if their loyalty to UMNO and BN cannot be depended upon, UMNO and BN will be rendered irrelevant...." Read more

MARCH 2009

by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad

CONSIDER MUHYIDDIN'S SUGGESTION SAYS ROSNAH

PAPAR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Puteri Umno vice-chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin (photo) has urged the party to consider its vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's proposal that voting for the top party leaders be opened to the 100,000 branch delegates to their respective divisional meetings, and not just to the 2,500 divisional delegates to the Umno general assembly. "Whether we like it or not, the scourge of money politics must be wiped out if we want Umno not to be seen by the public as a problematic party," she said here Tuesday. ...Read more

KHALID SAMAD; I SABOTAGE MY BOSS

by the Malay Mail (kutuberahak.blogger.com)

Khalid Samad (photo), who was PAS State deputy commissioner, said the differences in opinions and approaches between him and Dr. Hassan Ali had reached a non-reconciliation stage."He wanted team players in the committee and I cannot be a team player with him as the boss. So, he dropped me and chose his men. Now, I will wait and see if he delivers or not," Khalid said.

"I sabotaged his plans. The fact is we won in other States with the help of other parties in Pakatan Rakyat. Why should we form a State government with BN?" he told Malay Mail yesterday.

"It’s either he stays or I stay in the State committee. There is no way we can reconcile and sit in the same committee anymore."The bad blood between the two has been a long-standing issue way before March 8 with Dr Hassan wanting more seats for Pas so that the party could play a more prominent role in the State if the opposition alliance were to win. However, Khalid felt that Pas should just help strengthen the Pakatan Rakyat alliance in Selangor and take the lead in the other States.

"Put it this way...I am closer to the Pakatan Rakyat government while Dr Hassan is inward looking. He does not want to play second fiddle in the State government while I am willing because in Pas-held States, other parties in Pakatan Rakyat are playing second fiddle. This is what Pakatan Rakyat is supposed to be," he said.......Read more

THE KETUA PEMUDA RACE

by kulitpisang.com

".....Can KJ trust Hishamudin Husssein (HH)? Sakmongkol thinks not. Better not. HH’s preference for KJ is proportionate to the tenure of Pak Lah. While Pak Lah stays in power, HH will play the poodle lapping up everything that Pak Lah says.KJ must face the reality, that HH will seek the first chance to settle old scores. What old scores? Whether one likes it or not, for the 4 years deputising for HH, KJ has overshadowed the ever grinning Pemuda chief Jock. Measure it any way you want- articulation, mental capacity, bravado, fighting spirit- KJ outshines HH in every department. Now that Pak Lah is leaving on a jet plane and wont be back again, HH will play, see no evil, here no evil routine. By refusing to endorse an open debate, would have reveal a few things to KJ. He cannot count on HH..."

"....Who will win the race? If it was a sprint, maybe Muhriz could have been the winner. Now that the race has turned into a marathon, winning requires different set of skills and techniques. You cant sprint in a marathon. You will drop off dead. A marathon man requires stamina. Now, stamina is a generic term. It can mean physical stamina. Khir Toyo can consume a lot of tempereputed to be high in protein from which he can develop muscles and cardio vascular strength. Muhkriz can rely on his own source of strength, that will include his fortune of not holding any public office before and therefore relatively immune from criticisms. KJ can do likewise. He has a track record as deputy, but he is also burdened with a perception of unofficially holding public office and therefore susceptible to more criticisms. Of course, as will be obvious in the coming months, lots of money will be involved......" Read more

SEPARATING KJ FROM KHAIRY JAMALUDIN

Question; "For so long you have been accused of being the power behind the Prime Minister. Do you take any responsibility for this perception?"
KJ (photo); "No, because that is not true. I am saddened and disappointed with that perception. Pak Lah has been in politics for a very long time. He did not make his decisions based on what people tell him. And I never once sought to influence him. Of course, sometimes he would ask what I thought of certain things, but that is that.".......Read more

WILL NAJIB BRING UMNO TO SPEEDY END?

by kickdefella

".....Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over the country when the world is facing monumental changes. Mahathir retired at the brink of digital changes that he always dreamt and played a part, with cautious. Abdullah tried to govern the country in moderation but beside his flip-flop decision, the conservativeness in UMNO help to fasten his exit. UMNO had until today failed to face the changing world and the new generation. Will UMNO ever capable to change and re-brand itself?...."

"...... Unfortunately, Najib Tun Razak (photo) is not known as reformer. Many already perceived that Najib would bring UMNO back to the way it is managed under Mahathir. Najib has read well what happen to his predecessor for going against Tun. He will not repeat the mistake but to follow and obey the Great Man but by doing so under the current climatic problem world which rapidly being re-craft by the wind of change would only mark disaster to UMNO’s partner in BN....."..............Read more

HUTANG KEWARGANEGARAAN PERLU DIBAYAR

by Fahri Abdullah al-Masri

MUHYIDDIN; CHANGE SYSTEM TO CURB MONEY POLITICS

PETALING JAYA,(Bernama) -- In a bid to curb money politics in Umno, vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (photo) today suggested that the election of party national leaders not be confined to the 2,500 delegates to the Umno assembly but be opened to the some 100,000 branch leaders who attend divisional meetings at their respective localities."I have a few suggestions on ways to curb this menace which has brought about a negative perception of Umno. One of it is allowing delegates to the divisional meetings to pick national leaders. Presently, the fate of national leaders is in the hands of the 2,500 delegates to the general assembly.....Read more

PKR BERTEGAS KEMBALIKAN KUASA RAJA

by Jimadie Shah Othman, Malaysiakini

Mengembalikan semula kekebalan Raja-raja Melayu bukan bermaksud institusi itu berkuasa mutlak, sebaliknya mengukuhkan lagi konsep Raja Berperlembagaan, kata penasihat PKR Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (photo).
“Konsepnya bukan kuasa mutlak seperti mana kuasa sistem kerajaan beraja yang pernah wujud. Negara ini telah memilih (sistem) Raja Berperlembagaan, demokrasi berparlimen.

“Maknanya, Raja yang tunduk kepada prinsip perlembagaan dan undang-undang, tetapi kemuliaan dan darjat Raja-raja harus dipelihara,” katanya ketika menyampaikan ucapan di penghujung kongres nasional kelima PKR petang tadi.....Read more
